WESTON

Theresa

Dryden

Theresa Dryden is the director of the Weston METCO Program and the METCO Academic Liaison at the field School in Weston. This is her second year in the Director role, and she has been connected with the Weston METCO program for over 20 years as a staff member and a parent. Prior to becoming an educator, she worked in biomedical research. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from M.I.T. and a Master’s Degree in Education from Endicott College. She also has extensive training in culturally responsive education and anti-racist practices and is a member of Weston’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She has served on Weston’s Equity Audit Committee, and on many search and planning teams. In collaboration with colleagues, Ms. Dryden has helped to develop and launch several innovative summer programs for Weston METCO students. She is committed to ensuring life-changing educational opportunities for all students, empowering parents, and building community connections.

Ms. Dryden lives in Boston with her husband Cameron. In addition to her work with Weston METCO, she is actively involved in social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion work with a community group in Jamaica Plain. She comes from a family of educators, and one of her relatives was an enslaved person who gained his freedom with the help of Harriet Tubman. Her message to students, and to all of us, is found in the words of author and activist Maya Angelou: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
