Marika

Hamilton

Marika Sjuan Hamilton (she/her/hers) serves as the Lincoln METCO Director & AIDE (Antiracism, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) Coordinator for Lincoln Public Schools (LPS). She is a METCO alumna and joined the LPS in 2019. In her role as AIDE Coordinator, she has co-facilitated the LPS AIDE Advisory Group along with the Assistant Superintendent, created and conducted an equity audit, and co-lead AIDE professional development for the district. Additionally, Marika serves as a member of the WIDE (Welcome, Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity) Lincoln board. WIDE is an organized group of Lincoln residents who are committed to racial equity and dedicated to taking anti-racist action.

Prior to shifting to K-8 and becoming an administrator at LPS, Marika spent more than 15 years as an administrator in higher education, holding roles as Assistant Registrar, Registrar & Executive Director of Student Services, Assistant Dean of Enrollment, and Associate Dean of Enrollment Management. During these years, she also served as Executive Director of a self-esteem building program in Boston that provided inner-city girls with academic, home economic, and entrepreneurship skills. Marika earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Simmons College, her Masters in Education Interdisciplinary Studies from Cambridge College, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership Psychology at William James College. As an advocate for equitable education, Marika believes in establishing inclusive systems and structures that empower all students to access their learning and thrive. By prioritizing fairness and accessibility, she aims to create environments where EVERY student, particularly Boston-resident students, feel supported and capable of achieving success.
