Smith
Renee Smith (she/her/hers) is a proud alumna of the METCO Program, having attended Newton Public Schools from 7th through 12th grade. In 2021, she joined the METCO Directors’ Association (MDA) as the METCO Director for Braintree Public Schools.
Prior to her role in Braintree, Renee served for 11 years at Northeastern University as the Student Health Plan Manager. Her professional journey has been rooted in empowering parents, strengthening family engagement, and supporting student success across diverse communities. Renee’s mission is to equip adults with the tools and confidence to lead from home, fostering strong, supportive environments where students can thrive.
In addition to her district leadership role, Renee serves as the Black Student Union Advisor and Double Dutch Advisor, further deepening her commitment to student voice, cultural affirmation, and joyful engagement.
Renee is an active leader within the MDA, having served as Secretary for the past two years and currently holding the roles of Treasurer and Social Media Chair, where she supports organizational sustainability, visibility, and connection across districts statewide.
Renee holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northeastern University, and she earned a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business.
Outside of work, Renee enjoys adventures with her two sons and is a proud HBCU mom, celebrating her eldest son’s graduation from Howard University.
